Card #6703
After months of not travelling for art events I visited Lisbon to attend the Non-Fungible Conference 2 weeks ago.
Something that I kept being asked was "What happened to those Gay NFTs"
My response was always the same, that the community is still strong and passionate. Yes the NFT community as a whole is quieter these days compared to the glory days of the previous bull run, but that doesn't mean there aren't thousands of people still here, creating amazing art, building up the space and collecting (with more self-awareness and control).
`Last week’s events gave everyone asking about the Avant/Gay scene their answer.
Parker Ito (Creamy Dreamy) and Evil Biscuit both had successful and well received collections sell out in mere hours (and at times that weren't even friendly to EU collectors due to delays).
Parker released "Horses?7", a spiritual successor to "Horses?2" and "Year of the Horse Part 1", a 777 piece collection centred around paintings of horses but this time including themes around gambling and slot machines.
Evil Biscuit released "card nft 2", the new and improved sequel to one of his most iconic projects "card nft``````````````````”, where the artist painted and collaged over trading cards like Pokemon cards. This time, he released 3,000 packs sold on mons.shop that contained 3 card NFTs. These cards were randomly assigned, and are redeemable for physical cards created by the artist.
The buzz this generated on twitter this week was incredible. My feed was constantly posts about these 2 collections and I couldn't have been happier.
Both collections achieved something that make an Avant/Gay collection S+ tier, making each piece feel unique and hand-made. With collectors spending countless hours or even days going through all the pieces and trying to buy or trade for their favourite ones.
What these releases achieved was minimal price discussions on social media, highlighting the quality of the art but also the passion of the community and collectors.
With many new collectors bridging to Solana for the first time to mint or buy art on the secondary market, I will say with certainty Avant/Gay NFTs are far from being dead.

Thanks for this, @greekdx! I had not been keeping up with the Solana Avant/Gay scene lately- I love this new Horses series by Parker Ito. Are most drops still happening on VVV.so?
Yeah horses?7 was on VVV. Should have mentioned that.
There is still activity on VVV.
