New essay published: 'The Collector as Patron' in Outland

I just published a long essay in Outland exploring how digital art collecting is reshaping patronage models. The piece traces the historical relationship between collectors and living artists, from the Medici through Leo Castelli to the current moment.

Argument: the direct artist-collector relationship enabled by on-chain art represents the most significant shift in patronage since the gallery system was established.

Link in my bio. Curious what people think.

Would love to see more discussion threads like this. This is exactly the kind of substantive conversation that's hard to have on Twitter.

Strong disagree on the market analysis here. The data you're citing is from a single platform and doesn't reflect the broader picture.

Great thread. Bookmarking for reference. This should be required reading for anyone building in this space.

Testing a lot of different things in the comments.

This is another test line.

Cool.

This is a really important point. I've been thinking about this a lot recently and your framing helps clarify something I couldn't quite articulate.

I've been following your work for a while and this is some of your strongest. The conceptual framework is as compelling as the visual output.
